Autographed Dual Core Albums

Sorry I didn’t get to post this earlier (see previous post), but there is a chance for you to win an autographed copy of each of our albums in the 12 Days of Geekmas contest.  Thanks to our good friend Z (Hipster, please!) and our friends at Geekdad, we are co-sponsoring the second day of Geekmas over at Wired.

For this momentous occassion, we have donated a copy of each album in our discography.  For extra win, each disc is autographed by both myself and c64.  Not bad for a transatlantic tag-team of tomfoolery (alliteration forced).  But seriously, if you want to score some good nerdcore tunes along with rare autographs, go get your comment on at the 12 Days of Geekmas.

And we’re back

Today has been quite a day, we upgraded the server and everything seems almost back to normal now!  The previous server was an Athlon XP with just under 1GB of RAM donated by my college roommate’s girlfriend (thanks, Jenna).  The new server contains a whole slew of shiny armaments:  Q6600, SATA RAID1, and 8GB of RAM.

Here are a few things I learned:

  1. Apache gets angry when it tries to read files from a directory whose parent several levels up has a mode of 700.
  2. Apache does not tell you exactly why it is angry, instead the log file contains an error message which people have rectified several different ways — because that message is used for several different problems.
  3. Wordpress likes to do reverse DNS lookups.  After the server went in, the site was really slow.  Turns out I had my internal DNS server (RFC 1918) in /etc/resolv.conf.  Yeah, you can’t get there from the public internet.  Now that the resolv.conf uses the correct DNS server, the page is serving at fast speeds once again.

Well, I feel thoroughly challenged for the day.  Time to play some Left 4 Dead!

Lost Reality reviewed by The Game Dame

Kate just posted an awesome review of Lost Reality over at The Game Dame.  We are lucky to have her as a listener and fan, and extremely fortunate that she digs our music.  This is such an awesome testimonial:

If YOU haven’t experienced nerd love yet, grab yourself a copy of Lost Reality. There’s not a bad track in the bunch. There’s not even a “meh, ’sokay” track in the bunch. It’s strong from beginning to end and something you should be proud to add to your collection.

Go show Kate some love, and at least read the rest of her review.

Fantastic Four on 91.5 FM WPRK

Our good friend Hex from Nerdapalooza sent me a message saying that Fantastic Four (from Lost Reality) played on 91.5 FM WPRK earlier today.  Thanks to Hex for arranging that and letting me know!

Unrelated, but worth mentioning, our good friend Random had an article posted about him on The Feed.  Congrats!

Beefy Reviews Dual Core’s Lost Reality

We just received another excellent Lost Reality review from our good friend Dr. Beef Thompson, aka Beefy.  I wasn’t sure what Beefy would make of our album, tbh, as artists are sometimes the harshest critics.  Would he like it?  Would he hate it?  I really didn’t know.  Turns out, he loved it!

If you already happen to have Lost Reality and are looking for some fun nerdcore, give Beefy’s album Rolling Doubles a listen.
